Here I am at 37 years old pounding down the normal lunch of crappy fast food. I am pretty sure I was hitting the 235-240 lbs. mark in this picture. For most of my life I was never a very active person. Well not true, when I was younger I played soccer and baseball all the way until my freshman year in high school. After School the only type exercise I would get would be riding motocross and doing a few hair-scrambles. Nothing to crazy just a weekend warrior. Add twenty years or so of eating crap and watching a lot of tv and you get me in the picture above. This picture was took one month before my heart told me ‘that is enough!’. Yup that is right! at age 37 I had a heart attack and was added to the 550,000 males a year that have some type of heart attack. When I finally left the hospital I earned a brand new Stainless steel Stent in my heart and was tagged with CAD (coronary artery disease) I was told that my cholesterol score was 600! My blood pressure was out of this world! My heart rate was like a rabbit! I was an obese time bomb and the fuse was lit. I needed to make a drastic change in my lifestyle or the next time I visited the ER, I might not be going home.
Two weeks later I started running…
